Party Chairman Announces Switch at National Caucus Meeting as APC Sets Deadline for Electronic Membership Registration
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the defection of Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling party.
The announcement was made by the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yelwata, during the party’s 14th National Caucus Meeting held at the State House Conference Centre, Abuja. Yelwata, who hails from Plateau State, told party leaders that Governor Mutfwang has now joined the APC.
According to him, the governor’s defection means that the entire North Central geopolitical zone is now under APC control.
Governor Mutfwang was elected on the platform of the PDP in the 2023 general elections and becomes the latest high-profile political figure to leave the opposition party.
APC Sets January 30, 2026 Deadline for E-Membership Registration
At the same meeting, the APC chairman announced January 30, 2026, as the deadline for all party members nationwide to complete their electronic membership registration.
Yelwata explained that the ongoing activation of the electronic registration system is aimed at strengthening transparency, data integrity, and internal democracy within the party.
He said the party has already carried out training exercises at the state, zonal, and local government levels, and urged stakeholders to support the full nationwide rollout.
“We want to assure both old and new members that they enjoy full rights and privileges in the party. This registration exercise is an opportunity for members to properly document their supporters ahead of our forthcoming congresses,” he said.
