Barely 24 hours after taking charge, Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba has led the Apapa Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to a historic feat raking in N20.1 billion in daily revenue, the highest single-day collection ever recorded by any command in the country using the new Unified Customs Management System, B’Odogwu.
This new record surpasses the previous benchmark of N18 billion, set under the former leadership of the command.
The achievement was announced in an official statement by the Public Relations Officer of the Command, Superintendent of Customs Tunde Ayagbalo, who credited the milestone to the unwavering commitment of officers and stakeholders working in tandem with the NCS’s modernisation agenda.
“This record has not only broken the existing N18 billion mark but has redefined what is possible with dedication and the right leadership,” Ayagbalo stated.
Reacting to the landmark performance, Comptroller Oshoba downplayed celebration, urging his officers to stay focused and aim even higher.
“This is just the beginning of greater exploits. It’s not time to clap because clapping means removing both hands from work,” Oshoba said.
He emphasized that outstanding performance must be the new standard at Apapa, the flagship command of the NCS, which handles a significant portion of the country’s maritime trade.
Oshoba hailed the B’Odogwu system as a critical step toward creating a more efficient and digitally driven customs administration.
“B’Odogwu isn’t just a tool, it’s a necessity in building a modern, transparent customs system. This platform is designed to strengthen Nigeria’s standing as Africa’s largest economy through smarter trade facilitation,” he said.
Since resuming office, Comptroller Oshoba has made it clear that the bar is being raised at Apapa. He urged officers to surpass past performance and embrace innovation, integrity, and accountability.
“The only true measure of hard work is results. This command has what it takes to keep exceeding expectations and under my leadership, we will,” he told officers during a strategy meeting.
The Apapa Command continues to play a vital role in national revenue generation, and stakeholders are watching closely as Oshoba begins his tenure with record-breaking impact.
