Nigeria’s Elizabeth Anyanacho says her journey is only beginning after securing a bronze medal in the women’s under-70kg taekwondo category at the ongoing Islamic Solidarity Games in Riyadh.
The 26-year-old, who recently broke Nigeria’s two-decade wait for a World Taekwondo Championship medal by clinching bronze in China, continued her impressive run of form with another podium finish as Team Nigeria pushes for more medals in the final week of the competition.
Reflecting on her rapid rise and growing reputation, Anyanacho remained grounded, insisting her success is divinely enabled.
“I’m just getting started. It’s the grace of God that helps me to consistently win medals,” she said.
Entering the Games as one of Nigeria’s strongest medal contenders, Anyanacho began her campaign in dominant fashion, defeating Iainne Taju 2–0 in the quarterfinal at the Malaz Combat Hall to book her place in the semifinals.
Her latest triumph further reinforces her status as one of Nigeria’s most reliable performers in international taekwondo, adding another significant chapter to what is fast becoming a remarkable career trajectory.
