In the aftermath of a fatal road accident in Ogun State, the former world heavyweight boxing champion has travelled back to the United Kingdom.
The boxer, Anthony Joshua, arrived at London Stansted Airport on Friday night aboard a private jet after receiving medical treatment in Nigeria following the crash. Sources said he returned primarily to attend the burial of two close friends who died in the accident, which is scheduled to take place on Sunday.
The crash occurred along the Sagamu axis of Ogun State and reportedly left Joshua hospitalised, while two other occupants of the vehicle lost their lives. Court proceedings later revealed that Joshua had allegedly switched seats with his driver shortly before the accident.
The driver, who survived the crash, is currently in police custody assisting investigators, according to sources familiar with the case. Authorities are said to be examining the circumstances surrounding the accident, including possible violations of traffic regulations.
After landing in London, Joshua was taken to his residence to continue his recovery, as investigations into the incident remain ongoing.
