Carrie was Stephen King’s first published novel.
However, he had already written The Long Walk eight years earlier during his time at the University of Maine (1966), although it was only published in 1979.
The film version was directed by Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games, Red Sparrow, I Am Legend, Constantine), and some are calling it the best Stephen King adaptation to date.
The movie takes viewers to a dystopian future where a group of teens joins a competition in which they must walk continuously.
Those who stop or fall below the prescribed pace are shot by a military escort. The teens don’t realize how high the stakes are until their comrades start dying. So far, The Long Walk has an 88% critic score and an 85% audience rating.
Critics have praised the profound performances, harrowing story, and graphic sequences. You can watch The Long Walk in cinemas.
