Nigerian actress and model Annie Macaulay Idibia has spoken out after facing criticism for liking an Instagram post in which Laila Charani accused Regina Daniels of introducing her to drugs.
Laila, the fifth wife of Senator Ned Nwoko, had on Thursday shared a lengthy statement alleging that Regina was a bad influence and claimed she had exposed her to drugs. She further suggested she would not trust her daughters around the actress, accusing Regina of inappropriate behaviour with those around her.
Social media users quickly noticed that Annie had liked the controversial post, sparking disappointment among fans who pointed out that she has long been associated with Regina.
Responding to the backlash, Annie explained on her Instagram story that the interaction was accidental and reaffirmed her closeness to Regina. “In the process of reading the rubbish that was alleged about my baby, Regina, I liked the post mistakenly,” she wrote. “Over here, we don’t play with loyalty, and my baby knows I have her back, front, and side. Make una rest abeg.”
The controversy comes as tensions continue to rise within the Nwoko family. Regina Daniels recently accused Senator Ned Nwoko of domestic violence, while the senator in turn alleged she was using drugs, claims the actress has strongly denied.
The situation remains fluid as the public awaits further clarification from both parties.
