Nollywood actress Angela Okorie has explained why she deliberately avoids attending certain social events, citing concerns about people’s intentions and her personal safety.
In a post shared on her Instagram page, Okorie said not all invitations are genuine, claiming that some are extended with harmful motives rather than goodwill.
According to the actress, prayer and spiritual discernment play a crucial role in helping her determine where she should or should not appear.
She suggested that her absence from some events is often misunderstood, noting that certain individuals may not genuinely like her but still want her presence because of her perceived ability to energise gatherings.
Okorie stated that no appearance fee, regardless of the amount, would convince her to attend events where she feels spiritually uncomfortable or warned against going.
“I follow my spirit, and there are places I don’t go, no matter how much you want me to come,” she wrote, adding that she prioritises peace of mind and safety over public appearances.
The actress also referenced recent high-profile incidents within the entertainment space to underscore her concerns, although she did not accuse any individual directly.
Okorie concluded by expressing gratitude for her resilience and faith, which she said have helped her navigate difficult situations and avoid harm.
Her comments have since sparked mixed reactions online, with fans and followers debating personal safety, spirituality, and boundaries in the entertainment industry.
