At the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting, Anambra State emerged as a national front-runner, securing four awards for its visionary approach to ICT, digital governance, and technological innovation.
The annual event, held from December 8 to 12 at the Crispan Suite and Event Centre, Jos, brought together federal and state officials, industry leaders, innovators, and stakeholders to evaluate progress and shape Nigeria’s digital future. The theme for this year’s gathering was “Accelerating inclusive digital transformation: Bridging gaps and fostering sustainable growth through innovation.”
A major highlight was the States Innovation Peer Review Session, which provided a platform for states to showcase their digital achievements, share best practices, and encourage collaboration. Anambra’s performance earned it the following accolades:
-
Best Overall Performing State in ICT Development
-
Best State in ICT Human Capital Development
-
Second Runner-Up in Infrastructure Development
-
Second Runner-Up in eGovernment Implementation
Receiving the awards, Managing Director/CEO of the Anambra State Information and Communication Technology Agency, Chukwuemeka Agbata, lauded Governor Chukwuma Soludo for creating an enabling environment and providing strategic leadership.
Agbata said, “These awards reflect Governor Soludo’s bold vision and the dedication of our Solution Team. Through investments in broadband expansion, eGovernment services, tech-driven governance reforms, and digital skills development, Anambra is becoming a model of digital innovation and inclusive growth”.
Governor Chukwuma Soludo also shared his excitement on Facebook, stating, “Anambra shines again! Sweeping FOUR awards at NCCIDE confirms our vision of a digitally empowered Smart Mega City.
We will continue to leverage technology to improve lives, strengthen institutions, and create opportunities for our people. Anambra is rising, and we are just getting started”.
