Ahead of the Anambra election, the Obidient Movement says it is battle-ready to protect votes across all 5,720 polling units and resist any attempt to rig or manipulate results.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday in Awka, the National Coordinator of the Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, announced that the group had completed the inauguration of Polling Unit Commanders in every part of the state, describing the structure as “total grassroots coverage.”
“From Awka to Awkuzu, from Nnewi to every ward and community, the Obidient family is alive, active, and alert,” Tanko declared. “The days of results being written in back rooms are over. This generation of Nigerians will not allow the old order of electoral malpractice to return.”
He explained that the movement has deployed digital monitoring tools and intelligence networks to oversee accreditation, voting, and result transmission in real time, ensuring transparency throughout the process.
Tanko dismissed claims of division within the group, insisting that the Obidient family in Anambra remains united, disciplined, and committed to the shared vision of building “a new Nigeria that begins at the polling unit.”
He also called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to maintain impartiality, warning that any compromise in the conduct of the election would be met with “lawful and democratic resistance.”
In addition, Tanko urged security agencies to ensure voter safety, stressing that citizens must be allowed to freely exercise their constitutional right to vote without intimidation or harassment.
“To every Anambra citizen, your vote is your power — protect it, use it wisely, and stand firm for integrity and character,” he advised.
Concluding, the Obidient National Coordinator said the movement was not just contesting an election but leading a generational shift in Nigeria’s political culture — one rooted in civic responsibility, transparency, and accountability.
