Organisers of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards have confirmed that nominees for the 2026 edition will be revealed on Sunday, March 29.
The announcement programme will be hosted by Nollywood actor Chimezie Imo and broadcast live at 7:00 p.m. WAT across Africa Magic channels.
In a promotional message, the organisers urged viewers to tune in as the spotlight turns to this year’s contenders, marking the beginning of activities for the 12th edition of the awards.
The upcoming ceremony will feature a total of 32 categories. Of these, 18 will be decided by a jury, while 11 categories will be open to public voting. Special honours, including Lifetime Achievement and Trailblazer awards, will also be presented.
This year’s edition introduces new categories such as Best Indigenous Language – North Africa and Best Indigenous Language – Central Africa. The additions reflect the awards’ broader focus on promoting cultural diversity and strengthening pan-African storytelling.
The main awards ceremony is scheduled to hold in Lagos in May 2026, bringing together filmmakers, actors and industry stakeholders from across the continent.
