Emmanuel Amuneke, the Technical Adviser for Heartland, has articulated his commitment to securing a dominant conclusion to the 2025/26 campaign. The Owerri-based outfit, popularly known as the “Naze Millionaires,” is currently embroiled in a high-stakes pursuit of promotion back to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), seeking to re-establish their presence among the nation’s footballing elite.
The club significantly bolstered their aspirations for a top-flight return this past Saturday with a commanding 3-0 demolition of Gateway FC at the Dan Anyiam Stadium. This clinical performance keeps Heartland firmly in the hunt within the NNL Conference A standings, where they currently sit in third place, having amassed 23 points across 13 fixtures.
The race for the summit remains incredibly tight, as Amuneke’s men trail league leaders Inter Lagos FC by a mere two points. Crucially, Heartland possesses a game in hand—a pending encounter against Smart City—which could prove pivotal in the final rankings. Following the victory over Gateway, the former African Footballer of the Year emphasized a disciplined, match-by-match philosophy as the squad enters the home stretch of the season.
“Like I’ve always said, we’re not here to make noise. We just want to play our games and approach each one as it comes,” the coach said after the game against Gateway.
“Every game comes with different challenges. We know all three games will be very difficult, but what matters is our readiness to play them and achieve our objectives.”
