Heartland Head Coach Emmanuel Amuneke directly attributed his team’s 3-1 defeat to Sunshine Stars to a series of critical mistakes made by his players. The Naze Millionaires suffered the loss during their Matchday Five clash at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure on Wednesday.
Bismak Adebayo, Gabriel Adepoju, and Opeoluwa Olufem secured the three goals for Sunshine Stars, while Chukwuma Udoma scored Heartland’s solitary goal.
Amuneke readily acknowledged the dedication and effort shown by the victorious Sunshine Stars side in securing the maximum points.
Speaking after the game, Amuneke highlighted the nature of the defeat to News Track:
“From the beginning, we went ahead, but unfortunately we conceded goals from mistakes that allowed Sunshine Stars to score two second-half goals,” Amuneke was quoted by the news track. “Of course, you cannot take away the efforts of the Sunshine team. They fought, they wanted it, and in football if you want success, you go for it — and that’s exactly what they did. We have to congratulate them.”
