Three health workers abducted during an attack on a primary healthcare centre in Akure have been rescued by the Ondo State Security Network Agency.
The Corps Commander, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the development, saying the victims were freed in the early hours of Saturday following a coordinated security operation.
He explained that the rescue followed a confrontation with the kidnappers, which forced them to abandon the victims and flee.
In a related incident, Adeleye also confirmed the rescue of a 45-year-old man and his 15-year-old son who were kidnapped along Oda Road in Akure. He said the duo were rescued after operatives engaged the abductors in another operation late on Friday night.
According to security sources, the health workers were taken when armed men invaded the facility at night, sparking panic among staff and patients, while other workers managed to escape.
The victims are currently receiving medical attention following their rescue, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend those behind the attacks.
