Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has disclosed that Amad Diallo was unhappy about being substituted during their 2–1 victory over Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The Ivorian winger played a key role as United secured a memorable win, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire sealing the three points against Arne Slot’s side.
Speaking after the match, Amorim praised Diallo’s performance but explained that his decision to substitute him was purely tactical.
“Amad is doing so well in that position. He is perfect for that role,” Amorim told reporters.
“He was upset today when I made the sub, but he had a yellow card, and it was a lot of man-to-man on that side, so it was just about that.
“If not, he would have continued in the game because he is so important for us.”
The Portuguese tactician added that Diallo had been through a difficult period recently but remains an integral part of his plans.
“He struggled in these weeks, but we are here for him, and that is the most important thing,” Amorim said.
