The committee overseeing the final rites of late Nollywood actress, writer, and producer Allwell Ademola has announced that she will be laid to rest today, Friday, January 9, 2026, in Lagos.
Ademola passed away on December 27, 2025, at the age of 49 after suffering a heart attack at her residence, a loss that sparked widespread grief across the Nigerian film industry.
According to a statement from the burial committee, the final interment will take place at the Atan Cemetery in Yaba, Lagos State. Guests attending the burial have been advised to dress in white shirts paired with jeans.
The burial follows a series of tribute events held in her honour. On Thursday, January 8, 2026, colleagues, friends, and fans gathered at LTV 8 in Ikeja, Lagos, for a Service of Songs and a candlelight procession. The programme concluded later in the evening with an Artistes’ Night at the same venue.
Allwell Ademola’s career in the entertainment industry spanned several decades. She began acting as a child on television before transitioning fully into Nollywood in 1992, appearing in both English-language and Yoruba films.
Beyond film, Ademola was also active on stage, with performances at notable venues including the National Theatre. She further explored her creative talents in music, releasing an album in 2006 with her band, Allwell and Company.
Remembered as a versatile and passionate creative, Ademola’s death has drawn heartfelt tributes from colleagues and admirers, many of whom have praised her lasting contributions to Nigerian film, theatre, and music.
