Nigerian singer and record executive Tobi Mohammed, better known as Alhaji Popping, has shared details of a terrifying encounter with terrorists that nearly claimed his life in 2017.
Speaking on a recent episode of the Adesope Live show, the music star revealed that he and fellow artist Rayce were ambushed by gunmen in Bauchi State while traveling in a car.
According to him, the attackers, dressed in military uniforms, opened fire on their vehicle, releasing at least 10 bullets. Despite the heavy gunfire that tore through the steering, air conditioning system, and boot of the car, both men emerged unhurt.
“We were shot at 10 times in Bauchi in 2017 by guys wearing military uniforms. Bullets entered the steering, wheel, AC, the boot, but not one touched me,” Alhaji Popping recounted.
He added that the shocking escape changed his outlook on life and drew him closer to God.
“The experience is one of the things that made me very close to God because I realised everything that has happened to me was an expression of grace,” he said.
The artist admitted that he kept the incident from his mother at the time to avoid worrying her, but noted that it remains one of the most defining moments of his life and career.
