Gospel singer Alayo Melody has shared details surrounding the passing of fellow singer Bunmi Akinnanu, popularly known as Omije Ojumi, highlighting the difficulties that prevented her from seeking medical treatment abroad.
In a video posted on Instagram, Melody explained that plans to fly Omije Ojumi to India for treatment were halted because she was too weak to travel. Despite multiple attempts to secure a visa, three in total, the doctors eventually declared her unfit for the journey.
“I appreciate everyone who stood by Omije Oju mi when she was sick. Prophet Sam Ojo and Prophet Taiwo Ojo really did a lot,” Melody said. “There was a time we decided to fly her out to India, and these two prophets covered the visa processing and medical expenses. By the time the visa was approved, Omije was so weak and the doctors said she was not fit to fly.”
Alayo Melody also addressed spiritual leaders, urging them to avoid publicly sharing visions of death concerning celebrities. “I want to appeal to prophets to stop going on social media and telling their followers that they saw death visions about our celebs. If you see any bad vision about anyone, please contact them privately. Everybody will die one day. May God bless us with long life,” he added.
He concluded by assuring fans that details about Omije Ojumi’s burial arrangements will be communicated soon, while expressing gratitude to everyone who supported her during her illness.
The revelations have sparked conversations about the ethics of sharing spiritual visions online and the challenges faced by Nigerian artists seeking medical care abroad.
