Newcastle United legend, Alan Shearer, has backed Nottingham Forest to be strong contenders for the UEFA Europa League title this season under their new manager, Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou, who replaced Nuno Espirito Santo at Forest, guided Tottenham Hotspur to Europa League success last season, defeating Manchester United 2-0 in the final.
“There is a chance Ange Postecoglou could win back-to-back Europa League titles,” Shearer told Betfair.
“Nottingham Forest have a good team and some really good players. They’ve recruited really well. Ange is used to success. He’s had it at Celtic and, despite criticism, he gave Spurs the trophy they wanted. Let’s see what he can do at Forest now.”
Postecoglou’s first assignment as Forest boss will be a Premier League clash against Arsenal at the Emirates on Saturday.
