Senate President Godswill Akpabio has revealed that more governors from opposition parties are on the verge of joining the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Akpabio made the disclosure during the launch of a book authored by Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma, titled Ten Years of Impactful Leadership of the APC Administration in Nigeria, held in Owerri. The event also featured the commissioning of projects by President Bola Tinubu.
Addressing the gathering, Akpabio said President Tinubu’s reforms were winning new converts across the political landscape. He noted that several governors were already in talks to switch camps, describing the move as a direct response to the administration’s policies.
According to him, Nigerians in different sectors, students, farmers, and entrepreneurs, are beginning to experience the benefits of the reforms. He argued that while government officials may be accused of exaggeration, the real testimony lies with those directly impacted.
The Senate President also commended Governor Uzodimma for documenting a decade of APC governance, stressing that progress must be measured by action, not rhetoric. He added that his own tenure as governor of Akwa Ibom nearly two decades ago reflected progressive ideals through tangible development projects.
Akpabio’s remarks come amid growing political realignments ahead of future elections, with defections from opposition parties increasingly shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.
