Veteran actor Akin Lewis has opened up about the sudden end of his first marriage, admitting that he still does not understand why it ended.
Speaking on the African A-List Podcast, Lewis described the breakup as one of the most painful moments of his life, leaving him with lingering questions that remain unanswered even after many years.
“The sudden end of that marriage shook me deeply and it left questions I never got answers to. It caused me intense pain,” he said, reflecting on the emotional impact of the experience.
Despite the heartbreak, Lewis said the ordeal prompted personal growth and a renewed focus on his career. He credited the experience for making him stronger and more committed to his craft.
The actor also addressed ongoing complaints from film producers regarding veteran actors’ fees, expressing disappointment over the perceived lack of respect for their decades of dedication.
“I have spent over five decades building my career. I will not be expected to work for less or feel lucky to be cast in films,” Lewis stated, highlighting the importance of valuing experience and commitment in the industry.
The reflection underscores how personal challenges can shape both perspective and professional resilience, even for seasoned actors in Nollywood.
