Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has urged federal lawmakers from the state to treat Ondo’s development, peace, and stability as a shared responsibility, requiring the commitment and cooperation of all stakeholders.
The Governor made the call while hosting a dinner for all nine members of the House of Representatives from Ondo at the Government House in Akure, the state capital.
The lawmakers in attendance were Derin Adesida (Akure South/Akure North), Abiola Makinde (Ondo East/Ondo West), Timehin Adelegbe (Owo/Ose), Gboyega Adefarati (Akoko South West/Akoko South-East), Ife Ehindero (Akoko North-East/Akoko North-West), Festus Akingbaso (Idanre/Ifedore), Festus Adefiranye (Ileoluji-Okeigbo/Odigbo), Donald Ojogo (Ilaje/Ese-Odo), and Jimi Odimayo (Okitipupa/Irele).
The discussions focused on fostering collaboration between state and federal lawmakers to drive development, strengthen stability, and promote unity within the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the party’s upcoming congresses.
The meeting also explored ways to align federal and state development initiatives to ensure Ondo continues to benefit from projects under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope administration.
Governor Aiyedatiwa reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to prioritising the welfare of the people and the progress of the state above politics. He described the collaboration with the lawmakers as “a huge win for Ondo, providing the synergy needed to sustain the momentum of development and stability in the Sunshine State.”
The Governor also briefed the lawmakers on plans to celebrate Ondo State’s 50th anniversary and expressed delight that all 12 members of the National Assembly (Senate and House of Representatives) and all 26 members of the State House of Assembly now belong to the APC—an unprecedented development in the state.
The federal lawmakers commended the Governor for his developmental achievements and pledged their support and loyalty, promising to set aside politics and contribute actively to the growth of Ondo State and the APC.
Also present at the meeting were the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Ololade Gbegudu; APC National Vice Chairman, Isaac Kekemeke; Commissioner for Finance, Omowunmi Isaac; and Special Adviser to the Governor on Legislative Matters and APC chieftain, Ademola Adegoroye.
