Air Peace, West and Central Africa’s largest airline and its Chairman, Allen Onyema, have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to Nigeria’s aviation and transport sector at the Nigerian Institute of Transport and Logistics (NITL) Annual Excellence Awards held at the NICON Hotel, Abuja.
At the ceremony, Air Peace won the “Airline of the Year” award, while Onyema received the “Trailblazer Award in Transport and Logistics.” Both honours highlight the airline’s remarkable achievements and the visionary leadership that has propelled its rise as a dominant force in African aviation.
The Airline of the Year award celebrates Air Peace’s operational excellence, passenger-centred innovation, and rapid network expansion across domestic, regional, and international markets. Among its recent milestones is the historic launch of the Abuja–London Heathrow route, making Air Peace the first Nigerian carrier to operate direct flights between the country’s capital and the United Kingdom’s busiest airport.
This landmark feat has been widely praised for enhancing Nigeria’s global air connectivity, promoting international trade, and showcasing the nation’s growing aviation strength on the world stage.
Similarly, the Trailblazer Award presented to Dr. Onyema recognises his visionary leadership, strategic foresight, and steadfast dedication to the development of Nigeria’s aviation, transport, and logistics sectors. His pioneering initiatives have expanded Nigeria’s global aviation footprint and inspired renewed confidence in the nation’s capacity for innovation and excellence.
The twin recognitions add to Air Peace’s growing list of accolades, reaffirming its position as a trailblazer committed to safety, service quality, and regional integration — while underscoring Dr. Onyema’s lasting legacy as one of Africa’s most influential aviation leaders.
