The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has announced a temporary two-hour road closure in parts of Abuja on Saturday to allow for its annual 10-kilometre Walk/Jog Exercise, aimed at promoting the health, fitness, and operational readiness of its personnel.
In a statement issued on Friday, the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, said the exercise highlights the crucial role of physical fitness in maintaining military efficiency and mission preparedness.
According to him, the event will commence at 6:00 a.m. and end by 8:00 a.m., taking place along the service lane between Karu Bridge and Mogadishu Cantonment Bridge on the Abuja–Nyanya–Keffi Expressway.
During the exercise, the affected stretch of road will be temporarily closed to vehicular movement, Ejodame stated, adding that normal traffic flow will resume immediately after the completion of the walk.
He assured residents and commuters that adequate security and traffic management measures have been put in place to ensure the safety of both participants and the public.
Ejodame also appealed for the cooperation and understanding of Abuja residents, emphasizing that the NAF remains committed to fostering the well-being, discipline, and effectiveness of its personnel in carrying out their constitutional responsibilities.
