A viral video claiming that a patient fell out of a moving ambulance in Uttar Pradesh, India, is false and AI-generated. Despite widespread sharing on social media, no official reports indicate such an incident occurred.
The clip, circulated on X, Facebook, and Instagram in December 2025, shows a patient on a stretcher apparently rolling along a highway after falling from an ambulance. Overlaid Hindi-language text criticizes the state government, alleging negligence by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in managing healthcare.
Uttar Pradesh’s public healthcare system faces well-documented challenges, including overcrowded hospitals, staff shortages, and corruption and local media have reported cases of malpractice and inadequate facilities.
The BJP has announced plans to revamp healthcare in the state, targeting disease control, maternal health, and medical education. Opposition leader and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has accused the government of mismanagement and neglect.
The video’s creator, Bhattarai, told media that it was produced using ChatGPT and Sora AI, adding that it went viral after being shared online. Analysis of the clip shows clear signs of AI generation, the patient’s oxygen mask is not connected, the ambulance door is missing, vehicles appear distorted, and objects on the road shift unnaturally.
Comments on social media indicate that some viewers were misled by the video, expressing outrage at the alleged incident.
AFP has repeatedly warned about the risks of AI-generated content being presented as real events, highlighting the need for careful verification before sharing.
