The outgoing National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has cautioned Nollywood actors against using social media as a platform to air grievances or engage in public disputes.
In an official notice shared on Instagram, Rollas stated that the Guild will no longer tolerate what he described as “social media trials,” stressing that members found dragging colleagues or prosecuting issues online will face disciplinary action in line with the AGN constitution.
According to him, such conduct undermines professionalism and damages the reputation of Nollywood. He noted that public accusations and online confrontations often deepen divisions and spread misinformation rather than deliver justice.
Rollas reminded actors that the Guild has established structures, committees, and processes for resolving disputes, urging members to respect these recognised channels instead of resorting to online call-outs.
As he prepares to hand over leadership to newly elected executives on January 29, 2026, Rollas appealed to actors to demonstrate restraint and professionalism. He said it was important that the incoming leadership does not inherit a culture of indiscipline and public quarrels.
He further assured members that grievances would be addressed fairly when presented through the appropriate avenues, calling on actors to support the new executives by upholding good conduct both online and offline.
Rollas concluded by urging industry stakeholders to protect Nollywood’s image, respect due process, and handle disagreements with maturity, dignity, and unity.
