The National President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), Emeka Rollas, has publicly criticised several Nollywood veterans, alleging that they witnessed actress Regina Daniels abusing substances on set but chose to remain silent.
Rollas made the claims in a statement shared on Instagram, saying he needed to address what he described as “allegations, misconceptions and unnecessary accusations” surrounding the recent crisis involving Regina Daniels, her mother Rita Daniels, and Senator Ned Nwoko.
Rollas: “Many senior colleagues know the truth”
According to Rollas, Senator Ned Nwoko serves as Chairman of the AGN Board of Patrons, while Regina and her mother are registered members of the Guild. He said he had been under pressure from the public to respond to the ongoing controversy involving the family.
Stating that he owed the public the truth, Rollas named Jide Kosoko, Sanni Danji, Okey Bakassi, Charles Inojie and Chinyere Wilfred as colleagues who were allegedly present when Regina Daniels reportedly displayed signs of substance abuse during recent productions.
“Your silence is unfair,” Rollas tells colleagues
Rollas said the named actors were present during the last major project in question and had firsthand knowledge of Regina’s behaviour.
“You saw things firsthand regarding Regina, and we all know she needs help,” he said. “Your silence is unfair, and it leaves me exposed to attacks for matters I did not create.”
He accused members of the Board of Trustees of allowing him to shoulder controversies alone while they protected their reputations.
Nwoko allegedly imposed travel conditions
Rollas also referenced a recent disagreement involving Senator Ned Nwoko, claiming the lawmaker insisted Regina would only attend a planned AGN roundtable meeting in South Africa if Rollas guaranteed she would not travel through Lagos.
“This is a fact,” he said, adding that the condition has been “twisted against” him repeatedly.
Industry awaits response
As of the time of filing this report, none of the actors mentioned had publicly responded to Rollas’ claims. The allegations are expected to spark heated conversations within Nollywood and among fans of Regina Daniels, who has not issued a statement on the matter.
The AGN leadership has not announced any formal probe or disciplinary action regarding the claims.
