The Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN) has introduced a new advisory position dedicated to addressing sexual harassment in the film industry, appointing actress and reality TV personality Tega Dominic to the role.
Dominic, a former Big Brother Naija housemate, will serve as Special Adviser on Sexual Harassment to the national president-elect of the Guild. The appointment forms part of AGN’s efforts to improve internal safeguards and promote ethical standards across Nollywood.
She confirmed the development on Thursday after posting her official appointment letter on Instagram and formally accepting the role. The letter, signed by the Guild, notified her of the newly established position and outlined its responsibilities.
According to AGN, the office is tasked with developing and enforcing policies aimed at preventing sexual harassment, promoting safe and professional work environments, and setting up clear procedures for reporting, investigating, and resolving complaints within the Guild.
The leadership of the Guild described the role as critical to strengthening professionalism and accountability in the industry. It added that Dominic’s selection followed a review of her experience, judgment, and capacity to handle the sensitive responsibilities attached to the office.
The appointment letter also stressed that the position comes with expectations of discipline and strict compliance with the AGN constitution, noting that misconduct or actions contrary to Guild rules could lead to termination.
Reacting to the announcement, Dominic expressed gratitude to the AGN leadership and described the role as a service-driven responsibility to protect industry professionals.
She pledged to pursue a firm stance against sexual harassment, promising to support confidential reporting, survivor protection, and a culture anchored on respect and dignity.
“With zero tolerance for sexual harassment, we can build an industry where talent flourishes without fear and professionalism is upheld,” she said.
The creation of the advisory office signals AGN’s renewed focus on member welfare and ethical conduct as Nollywood continues to expand its local and global influence.
