Afrobeats singer Fave has voiced frustration over reports that live music events are discouraged in Nigeria during the Islamic Ramadan period, a situation she says has disrupted plans for her birthday concert.
In a series of posts on X, the singer revealed that several promoters declined to work on her proposed show, reportedly citing Ramadan as the reason. According to Fave, the feedback left her confused, especially as she identifies as a Christian and intended to host the concert on her birthday, March 13.
The artiste explained that the event was meant to be her first headline show in Nigeria as an independent act, a milestone she had planned for the start of the year.
Fave said she respects Islamic practices and the observance of Ramadan but questioned how it should affect her professional plans. She added that growing up in southern Nigeria, she was not aware of restrictions on music events during the fasting period.
“I started this year wanting to do my first show in Nigeria on my birthday as an independent artiste,” she wrote. “Back to back, promoters kept sending word to my team saying the same thing.”
While reaffirming her respect for all religions, the singer appealed directly to potential organizers who may be willing to partner with her to bring the event to life.
“I respect all religions,” she added. “But I’m Christian, and I really want to do this on my birthday. If you’re reading this and are open to organizing, I’d be so happy.”
The comments have sparked fresh conversations online about religious observances, cultural practices, and their impact on Nigeria’s entertainment industry.
