Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has congratulated Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, on his re-election, describing the outcome as a clear affirmation of the people’s will.
Governor Soludo was declared winner of the November 8, 2025, Anambra governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In a statement released in Osogbo on Sunday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke said Soludo’s victory reflects both his performance over the past four years and the strong confidence the people of Anambra have in his leadership.
“I warmly rejoice with my brother, Prof. Soludo. His re-election reflects his good performance over the last four years and the deep love the people of Anambra have for him, his style of governance, and his service to the people,” Adeleke said.
The governor added that the result demonstrated that free, fair, and credible elections are achievable when true democrats guide the electoral process.
He emphasized that the bedrock of a sustainable democracy rests on respecting voters’ choices and preventing any form of electoral malpractice.
“We must sustain the tempo by ensuring that electoral robbery is outlawed for the sake of our democracy. Any politician engaging in such acts must be sanctioned,” he stated.
Adeleke reaffirmed that political power emanates from the people, who retain the sole right to choose their leaders.
“Democracy is about ballot papers, ballot boxes, and a free environment for citizens to cast their votes. You cannot force yourself on the people in a democracy. The people are the bosses, and they choose who presides over their states,” he added.
The Osun governor also commended INEC Chairman, Prof. Amupitan, urging the commission to continue building on its reforms to strengthen Nigeria’s electoral system.
He further called on political actors nationwide to recommit to transparency and accountability as a mark of respect for both the constitution and the electorate.
