The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed confidence that it can emerge as a major force in the 2027 general elections, even without holding any governorships.
Senator Nazif Gamawa, the party’s National Vice Chairman, made the remarks on Monday during a press interaction in Bauchi, insisting that the absence of sitting governors would not hinder the party’s chances.
He cited former President Muhammadu Buhari’s victory over an incumbent as an example of success achieved without gubernatorial support.
“The people have already embraced the idea of a new political movement. ADC is the saviour, and we are delivering that change,” Gamawa said.
The party leader dismissed claims of internal strife and called on politicians who feel marginalized or betrayed in their current parties to join the ADC.
He also promised that, unlike other parties that charge exorbitant fees for nomination forms, the ADC would remain accessible and inclusive.
A former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gamawa expressed confidence that he and other party leaders would strategically position the ADC for a strong showing in 2027. He assured that, if elected, the party would govern fairly and prioritize the welfare of the masses.
Gamawa also encouraged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards and participate actively in the elections, emphasizing that voting is both a right and a civic responsibility.
He warned that failure to vote wisely would allow Nigerians to continue suffering from poor leadership.
Highlighting the need for youth involvement, Gamawa lamented that Nigeria’s politics and governance have been dominated by a few individuals, stressing that the ADC is committed to mentoring young people interested in leadership and public service.
