Governor Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has signed the ₦583.3 billion appropriation bill for the 2026 fiscal year into law, following its passage by the State House of Assembly.
The budget allocates ₦209.64 billion (35.94%) for recurrent expenditure and ₦373.69 billion (64.06%) for capital projects, reflecting a strong focus on development and investment in the state’s critical sectors.
Governor Fintiri said the budget is strategically designed to strengthen infrastructure, expand education and healthcare services, enhance job creation, and improve the welfare of citizens. He noted that the plan is the result of extensive consultations with communities across the state, ensuring it aligns with the aspirations and needs of Adamawa residents.
On security, Fintiri revealed that trained forest guards would be deployed to Hong Local Government Area to address emerging security challenges, among other priority areas earmarked for 2026.
He also pledged that his administration would improve collaboration with the media and ensure effective implementation of the budget to achieve key milestones in education, infrastructure, and other sectors.
The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, the Speaker of the State Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, along with members of the State Assembly and the executive council.
