The ACT Naija Project has conducted a community outreach programme aimed at improving access to social protection initiatives, with the theme “Enhancing Community Access to Social Protection Programmes.
” The outreach brought together community members, stakeholders, and development partners to sensitize residents on available government support schemes and the importance of proper registration.
Speaking at the event, the State Programme Officer, Mr. Peter Geoffrey, emphasized the need for communities to take advantage of social protection opportunities designed to support vulnerable households. He encouraged participants to actively register and ensure that accurate information is provided during the enrolment process.
“This programme is designed to support those who truly need assistance.
We therefore urge all eligible community members to come forward, register properly, and benefit from the social protection initiatives available to them,” he said.
Also addressing the gathering, the Programme Officer of the African Network for Environment and Economic Justice, Mr. Paul Odokara, explained that the intervention is being implemented across seven states in Nigeria.
According to him, the project aligns with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Cash Transfer initiative introduced by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which provides beneficiaries with a monthly stipend of ₦25,000 for three consecutive months.
“This intervention is part of broader efforts to cushion the economic challenges faced by vulnerable citizens.
Through the Renewed Hope Cash Transfer, beneficiaries will receive ₦25,000 each month for three months to support their basic needs,” Odokara stated.
In her remarks, the Head of Operations in Borno State, Mrs. Fatima Zanna, provided detailed guidance on the registration process, stressing transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness.
She noted that clear procedures have been established to ensure that only qualified beneficiaries are captured.
“We have put in place proper guidelines to make the registration process smooth, fair, and transparent.
Community members are advised to follow the instructions carefully so that the right people benefit from the programme,” she explained.
Participants at the outreach expressed optimism that the initiative would ease economic hardship and improve household welfare if properly implemented.
The ACT Naija Project noted that the community engagement forms part of sustained efforts to strengthen social protection delivery, promote awareness, and improve the living conditions of vulnerable populations across participating states.
