Abuja-based content creator Brian Nwana has been named TikTok Africa’s Storyteller of the Year, in recognition of his impactful content and influence across Sub-Saharan Africa.
The award ceremony, held recently in South Africa, also celebrated other Nigerian creators, including Noosi Tiwantiwa and Raja’atu Muhammed Ibrahim.
In a statement on Wednesday, Nwana described the recognition as “surreal,” adding that “every single creator is a storyteller.” He explained that his journey began with showcasing Abuja’s culture, food, creativity, and overlooked gems to the world.
Nwana, a Guinness World Record holder, gained international attention in August 2024 when he visited 150 fast-food restaurants in 24 hours, breaking the previous record of 100 held by Canadian YouTuber Eric Decker. He noted that the record helped shine a spotlight on the vibrant culinary scene of Nigeria’s capital.
The TikTok Africa awards highlight creators who inspire, entertain, and influence audiences, and Nwana’s recognition underscores the growing impact of Nigerian content on the global stage.
