A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Musa Kwankwaso, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as the Federal Government’s commitment to tackling insecurity, following the rescue of 176 residents of Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Kwankwaso, who is also the Director of Finance at the Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority, said the successful rescue demonstrated the administration’s determination to restore security across the country.
His position was contained in a statement issued on Thursday, following the release of the abductees, who had spent nearly six months in captivity after they were kidnapped on February 3, 2026.
“The rescue of the 176 residents of Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State is another indication that President Bola Tinubu is working diligently to free the nation from the grip of insecurity,” the statement read.
According to Kwankwaso, the operation, carried out by the Nigerian military and other security agencies, ended months of uncertainty and anguish for the victims and their families.
The Kwara State Government had earlier confirmed the development in a statement published on its official Facebook page on Wednesday, describing the rescue as a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to combat insecurity.
The state government also commended President Tinubu, the Nigerian Armed Forces and other security agencies involved in the operation.
Kwankwaso urged political opponents to acknowledge progress made in addressing the country’s security challenges, insisting that government achievements should be recognised regardless of political affiliations.
“The opposition should learn to appreciate government efforts whenever there is a breakthrough in addressing the security challenges facing the nation,” he said.
The APC stalwart also lauded the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the Minister of Defence, the Minister of State for Defence, the Service Chiefs and all security personnel who participated in the rescue operation.
He expressed confidence that the ongoing reforms in the nation’s security architecture would continue to yield positive results.
“This is a clear testament that, sooner rather than later, the security challenges confronting the country will become a thing of the past,” he stated.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general election, Kwankwaso said he believes President Tinubu’s achievements, particularly in the area of security, would strengthen his support in the North.
“Northerners will no doubt come out en masse to vote for President Tinubu for a second term in 2027 because of his tremendous achievements,” he added.
The rescue of the 176 abducted residents has been widely welcomed as one of the largest successful hostage recovery operations in recent months, offering renewed hope to communities affected by insecurity and underscoring ongoing efforts by security agencies to dismantle criminal networks operating across parts of the country.
