Newcastle United skipper Bruno Guimaraes is awaiting clearance to complete his medical with Arsenal as both clubs move closer to finalising his summer transfer.
The Athletic reports that the Premier League sides are nearing an agreement on a fee for the Brazilian midfielder, bringing an end to weeks of speculation over his future.
The 28-year-old had already made his intention to join Arsenal known to Newcastle, who were initially unwilling to sanction his departure after losing Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali.
However, the Magpies have now agreed to respect Guimaraes’ wishes, with the midfielder set to link up with Mikel Arteta’s team for pre-season preparations ahead of their Premier League title defence.
