Following recent attacks in parts of Benue South Senatorial District, the Benue State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Benjamin Omale, has appealed to residents to remain calm and avoid any action that could further escalate tensions in the affected communities.
Omale made the appeal during an assessment visit to communities impacted by the violence, including Otukpo Nobi, Efuyi Ugboju, Olahimu, Ankpechi and Ondo Ugboju in Otukpo and Ohimini Local Government Areas.
The APC chairman expressed concern over the loss of lives, injuries and destruction of property recorded during the attacks, describing the incidents as painful and unacceptable.
He urged residents to rely on lawful channels and support security agencies with relevant information rather than seeking revenge.
“Let me appeal to our people to remain calm and peaceful. Let us restrain from any form of retaliation or revenge; let no one take laws into their hands”.
Omale said timely intelligence from communities would help security forces prevent further attacks and bring those responsible to justice.
While commending security personnel for their efforts, he called for increased vigilance and stronger collaboration between security agencies, government authorities, traditional rulers, religious leaders and local communities.
He also praised President Bola Tinubu and Benue State Governor Hyacinth Alia for their commitment to improving security, stressing that every life lost represents a painful setback for the state.
The APC chairman expressed sympathy to bereaved families and survivors, while donating relief materials to residents affected by the attacks.
