The anti-graft watchdog has arrested seven current and former Nakuru County officials over alleged conflict of interest and procurement fraud involving contracts worth Sh120 million.
The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigation arose from allegations that a county official used companies owned by her husband to conduct business with the administration.
The companies were allegedly awarded 29 contracts between the 2020/2021 and 2024/2025 financial years and received cumulative payments of Sh120 million.
The arrested officials, who include county executive members, chief officers and county directors, are being held for grilling at EACC’s regional office in Nakuru.
The agency confirmed that it is pursuing two more county officials over the matter.
