Former Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has emerged as a leading candidate for the vacant Senegal head coach position.
According to Foot Mercato, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, discussions are underway between the Frenchman and the Senegalese Football Federation over the role, although negotiations are still at an early stage and no agreement has been reached.
The federation is reportedly keen on appointing the former Arsenal captain, whose coaching résumé includes spells at Strasbourg, Nice and Genoa.
The position became vacant after Senegal parted ways with Pape Thiaw following the team’s exit to Belgium in the Round of 32 at the FIFA World Cup.
