Veteran Nollywood actor Jide Kosoko has appealed to Nigerians to give President Bola Tinubu’s administration more time before assessing its performance, arguing that the impact of government policies cannot be fairly measured at an early stage.
Speaking during an interview with FeelrightnewsTV, Kosoko compared governance to the construction of a building, saying a project should only be evaluated after it has been completed.
“If you are building a house, you cannot assess such a building and give it a pass mark until the building is completed,” he said.
The actor acknowledged that President Tinubu, like every other leader, is not perfect and should not be expected to make flawless decisions.
“Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not God. That means he cannot be perfect,” Kosoko stated.
He also alleged that political opponents and some activists were shaping public opinion against the administration, particularly among younger Nigerians.
According to him, members of Generation Z are especially vulnerable to external influence.
“Let me tell you, what those opposing Tinubu are projecting for you to say is what you will be saying. What they have crafted that they want you to carry in your head is what you will carry,” he said.
“They know you, Gen Z. You are easy to manipulate and control. Once they control you, you will all go on overdrive.”
Despite defending the administration, Kosoko acknowledged that many Nigerians are grappling with economic hardship.
He, however, argued that direct cash distribution to citizens would not be a practical solution given Nigeria’s large population, maintaining that the government should be allowed time to implement its policies before its performance is judged.
