The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, Rev. Dr. William Uzochukwu Okoye, describing him as a devoted servant of God and a committed nation builder whose contributions to the Church and Nigeria will be remembered for generations.
In a condolence message issued by its President, Archbishop Daniel Okoh, CAN extended sympathies on behalf of its National Executive Committee and the Christian community in Nigeria to the late cleric’s widow, Rev. Mrs. Toyin Okoye, his children, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship Mission, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and all those mourning his passing.
Okoh said Rev. Okoye dedicated his life to the service of God and humanity through faithful preaching of the Gospel, raising leaders and working tirelessly for the unity and growth of the Church in Nigeria.
He noted that the late cleric’s service extended beyond his ministry, recalling that he served as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Chapter, Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), FCT Chapter, and later as CAN National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare.
According to the CAN president, Rev. Okoye made significant contributions to strengthening the Christian witness in Nigeria and promoting constructive engagement on issues affecting the Church and society.
Okoh also highlighted the late minister’s service to the nation, noting that he was a member of the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. He further served as Chaplain to two Presidents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and headed the Aso Rock Villa Chapel.
“His commitment to nation-building reflected his conviction that faith should positively influence society,” Okoh said.
Reflecting on his personal relationship with the deceased, the CAN president described Rev. Okoye as a humble servant of God who discharged every responsibility entrusted to him with wisdom, grace and unwavering dedication.
“He was deeply committed to the unity of the Church and was always willing to lend his voice and experience whenever called upon. His counsel, calm disposition and passion for advancing God’s Kingdom will be greatly missed,” he said.
While mourning his passing, Okoh expressed gratitude to God for what he described as a life well spent in His service and prayed for divine comfort for the bereaved family, members of All Christians Fellowship Mission and all those affected by the loss.
He prayed that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss and uphold them with His unfailing grace, while praying for the peaceful repose of the late cleric’s soul.
