Concerns over recent allegations involving senior figures in the Presidency have prompted a call for restraint from the Arewa Think Tank, which has urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu not to be distracted from governance.
The group made the appeal on Friday in Kaduna, where its Convener, Muhammad Yakubu, described reports linked to a purported Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) as politically driven and urged caution in the handling of unverified claims.
Yakubu said prominent allies of the President often face public scrutiny when linked to expanded national roles, adding that similar controversies had previously surrounded other political actors.
He urged the President to remain focused on governance and ensure that capable officials are not unfairly affected by unverified allegations, particularly as the political season approaches.
He also referenced earlier clarification from the Presidency stating that the PFIPC is not a recognised government agency and that Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila neither controls such a body nor issues official appointments on its behalf.
The Presidency had also dismissed reports suggesting any plan to remove the Chief of Staff, reaffirming that he remains in office. The group cautioned Nigerians against relying on speculation, warning that misinformation could erode trust in public institutions.
It also called on political actors to act responsibly and avoid actions capable of undermining confidence in the democratic process.
