Media personality Toke Makinwa has encouraged women to place emotional maturity high on their list of priorities when choosing a life partner.
In a message shared on her Instagram Story, Makinwa said the quality of a relationship is often revealed by how partners respond after disagreements.
She advised women to seek men who reach out to check on their well-being following an argument instead of withdrawing and leaving them to process emotional pain on their own.
According to her, a healthy relationship is built with someone who remains present during difficult moments, seeks to understand their partner’s perspective and works toward resolving conflicts rather than treating every disagreement as a contest to be won.
Makinwa added that the ability to apologise sincerely and put the relationship above personal pride is an important quality in a life partner.
She wrote that women should choose “the man who calls you after an argument just to make sure you’re okay,” rather than someone who walks away and leaves them in tears.
The media personality also said a partner who can pause in the middle of a disagreement, offer reassurance and genuinely apologise because the relationship matters more than ego is someone worth building a future with.
Her comments add to the ongoing conversations she frequently shares on relationships, self-worth and personal growth through her social media platforms.
