President says upgraded satellite town roads will improve connectivity, reduce congestion, and stimulate business activities across the Federal Capital Territory…..
President Bola Tinubu has said his administration’s ongoing investment in road infrastructure across the satellite towns of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is aimed at unlocking economic opportunities, improving mobility, and enhancing the quality of life for residents.
The President made the remarks on Monday during the inauguration of the newly rehabilitated and expanded Karu Township Roads in Abuja. He was represented at the ceremony by Vice President Kashim Shettima.

According to Tinubu, the completion of the project demonstrates his administration’s commitment to addressing urban congestion while delivering critical infrastructure under the Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the Karu corridor has for years served as a major gateway into the nation’s capital but was plagued by persistent traffic congestion that affected commuters, businesses, and economic productivity.
“When we assumed office three years ago, we recognised that meaningful development must extend to where Nigerians live, work and commute daily,” the President said.
He explained that expanding and rehabilitating the road network goes beyond improving transportation, describing the project as an investment designed to revive commercial activities and strengthen the local economy.
Tinubu said the upgraded roads have significantly reduced travel time, eased traffic gridlock, and created a more conducive environment for businesses operating within the densely populated district.
The President also praised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, for what he described as his commitment to implementing the administration’s urban renewal programme across Abuja.
According to him, the visible transformation taking place across the FCT reflects the minister’s dedication to delivering infrastructure projects that directly improve the lives of residents.

He added that the decision to prioritise road construction in satellite communities alongside projects within the city centre aligns with the administration’s goal of ensuring that development benefits every segment of society.
Tinubu further commended the contractor, Abdul-Val Constructions Limited, for completing the project on schedule and meeting quality standards, saying the achievement demonstrates that indigenous construction firms are capable of executing projects comparable to international benchmarks.
Speaking at the event, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike said the completion of the road project has transformed the Karu landscape and called on residents to acknowledge the government’s efforts regardless of political affiliation.
According to Wike, infrastructure development should be appreciated as a public good because every resident, irrespective of political beliefs, benefits from improved roads and transportation.
He also reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to extending similar projects to other communities across the FCT, assuring residents that the dividends of democracy would continue to reach every district.
The minister equally praised Abdul-Val Constructions Limited, describing the company as an example of the growing capacity of Nigerian contractors to deliver major infrastructure projects.
Wike noted that the contractor remained committed to the project despite payment challenges, expressing confidence in the government’s eventual fulfilment of its financial obligations.
Earlier, the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department, Abdulkadir Zulkiflu, explained that the project, awarded in August 2025, links the Karu Interchange on the Abuja-Keffi Expressway to the Customs Clinic Junction.
He said the project also covers the rehabilitation of the DSS Road, NIA Road, EFCC Road, Hospital Road and Old CBN Quarters Road within Karu Township.
According to Zulkiflu, the completed infrastructure will improve traffic flow, strengthen drainage, enhance security, and provide residents with quicker access to the Abuja city centre.
He described Karu as one of the most populated satellite communities in the FCT, noting that the improved road network now allows commuters to reach the city centre in less than ten minutes.
