Media personality Asherkine has expressed frustration over the rising cost of renting apartments in Lagos, reacting to reports that securing a decent two or three-bedroom flat in the city now requires as much as N15 million.
In a post shared on social media, Asherkine questioned the soaring cost of housing, saying the reported rent was beyond the reach of many young Nigerians trying to build their lives and careers.
“So if you’re renting a good 2/3 bedroom flat in Lagos rn, you gotta have #12-15million? this cannot be my own 20s God.”
His reaction has added to growing conversations online about the escalating cost of accommodation in Lagos, with many users sharing similar concerns about rising rents, agency fees and other associated housing costs.
The post comes amid persistent complaints from residents over the affordability of housing in Nigeria’s commercial capital, where rents have increased significantly in several high-demand neighbourhoods in recent years.
