The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has approved the appointment of Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) Anietie Okokon Edem Iniedu as the new Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO) of the Nigeria Police Force.
The appointment was announced in a statement signed by the outgoing Force Public Relations Officer, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Anthony Okon Placid.
CSP Iniedu, who hails from Etinan Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, takes over the role with extensive experience spanning public communication, intelligence management, operational policing, administration and institutional accountability.
A graduate of Pure Chemistry from the University of Uyo, Iniedu has undergone several professional trainings in investigative interviewing, crime scene management, strategic communication, intelligence analysis and human rights-based policing.
Prior to his appointment, he served as Head of the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) at the Force Headquarters in Abuja, where he coordinated the management of public complaints and led initiatives aimed at strengthening transparency, accountability and public confidence in the Nigeria Police Force.
The new Force spokesperson has also held several strategic positions within the Force, contributing to operational and administrative functions across different commands and departments.
According to the statement, the Inspector-General expressed confidence in CSP Iniedu’s capacity to effectively lead the Force Public Relations Department and advance the Force’s communication objectives.
Disu noted that the officer’s wealth of experience and professional competence would bolster the Force’s strategic communication efforts, enhance public engagement and support ongoing policing reforms.
