Tech giant Starlink is facing a massive speed slowdown in Kenya, and this has been attributed to its own popularity.
New data from network intelligence firm Ookla shows that Starlink’s average speeds in Kenya have dropped by twenty-six percent compared to last year, hitting an all-time low.
The issue? Major network congestion. Starlink’s subscriber base in Kenya jumped to nearly 25 thousand users, straining the system’s capacity.
With performance slipping, local internet providers are quickly closing the gap. In fact, smaller local companies are now outgrowing Starlink as customers push back against the slower speeds.
