In a video that surfaced online, the survivor described what she said was widespread abuse against women and girls held by the group. She claimed that captives were subjected to repeated sexual violence and beatings while in detention.
A young woman who was recently freed from kidnappers’ camp has alleged that she endured repeated sexual abuse, physical assault and harsh living conditions during her captivity.
Recounting her ordeal, she said: “They raped us several times. They beat us and still have sex with us. They committed a lot of atrocities with us and they don’t feed us well. I spent 20 days there with them and on daily basis they raped me.”
According to her account, the kidnappers demanded a ransom of N10 million from her family before she was eventually released after spending about 20 days in captivity.
The revelation has renewed concerns over the treatment of women and girls held by armed groups, particularly in areas affected by insecurity and kidnapping.
