One person was shot dead and nearly 50 protesters arrested on Tuesday during the latest demonstrations against the construction of an Ebola quarantine facility intended for US citizens in Nanyuki.
Construction of the facility, which had been temporarily halted by a High Court order, continued despite the directive and has drawn strong opposition from local leaders in Laikipia County.
Tuesday’s fatal shooting brings the death toll linked to the Ebola protests in Laikipia to three, following the fatal shooting of two people during demonstrations last week.
