A fresh twist has emerged in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) crisis, with a faction led by former Minister of Special Duties, Tanimu Turaki, ratifying former President Goodluck Jonathan as its presidential candidate for the 2027 election.
The ratification took place during a special convention held at the faction’s secretariat in Garki, Abuja, after security operatives blocked access to the A-Class Event Centre in Wuse 2, the venue initially announced for the event.
Jonathan, who was absent, was represented by House of Representatives member Fred Agbedi, who received the certificate of ratification on his behalf. Also in attendance were prominent members of the faction, including Prof. Jerry Gana and former Senate President Adolphus Wabara.
The development further highlights the deepening divisions within the PDP, with rival factions backing different candidates ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
