In a press statement released on May 29, 2026, and endorsed by state coordinator Obonganwan Barbara Etim James alongside Hon. Engr. Bassey Ekefre, Kinie Bassey Willie, Ngozi Ehendu, Chief Ray Ugba Morphy and Goodnews Umoh, the group accused the party leadership of undermining the long-standing zoning arrangement that favours the Southern Senatorial District.
The statement claimed that a governorship aspirant from the Northern District is being allowed to contest, in what it described as a breach of the rotation system observed in the state since 1999. It also raised concerns over the conduct of the forthcoming primaries, citing poor communication from the party secretariat and the exclusion of aspirants and stakeholders from the process.
The group further criticised a national delegation that recently met with party stakeholders in the state, alleging that it appeared to have a predetermined position, raising questions about its neutrality and commitment to the party’s overall interest. It called on the national leadership of the NDC to urgently intervene, warning that the issues, if left unresolved, could undermine party unity and electoral prospects in the state.
